DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers can be used to improve the appearance in a variety of ways and can be applied to specific points on the face, depending on the concern that needs to be addressed. A versatile treatment that can be administered to the mid and lower parts of the face, dermal fillers can help to restore a youthfully rejuvenated look, or to enhance the natural contouring and definition of the features. The injectable gel also contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, flooding the skin with moisture to boost hydration in the skin.

What are Dermal Fillers?

As we age, our skin changes and we lose hydration as well as facial fat. Our natural skin elasticity reduces due to the degradation of collagen and our skin becomes more fragile. Because of these natural skin changes, over time the natural volume of your youthful skin begins to diminish, and wrinkles and folds start to form. The more mobile facial areas are the first to be affected by this natural ageing process. Skin will eventually begin to sag, and “expressive” wrinkles will start to appear, which are more difficult to smooth out.

Dermal fillers are a safe and effective procedure to help smooth out problem areas and tackle signs of skin ageing.

Dermal fillers can help improve the appearance of:

– Smile lines

– Lip lines

– Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)

– A lack of jawline definition and jowl softening

– Deep folds and wrinkles

– Sunken cheeks

– The décolletage

– Acne scarring

– Temple hollowing

They can also be used to:

– Improve scars

– Reduce tear troughs

– Augment the lips

– Enhance the cheekbones

– Remodel the chin

– Reshape the nose

Why use Dermal Fillers?

As a person ages, the body begins to lose collagen. Collagen is an important substance that exists in your skin, muscles, bones and tissues. A decrease in the amount of collagen can cause skin laxity and loss of volume. The skin becomes thinner, loses its elasticity and starts to sag.

Dermal fillers can be used to treat:

– Sagging skin

– Making facial features more symmetrical.

– Plumping lips and cheeks.

– Smoothing wrinkles and creases

Adding volume to help smooth the texture of the skin’s surface can work effectively to soften the look of facial wrinkles, including smile lines and lip lines. As the underlying tissues of the skin lose density and facial volume loss becomes apparent, dermal fillers can restore a volumised look to sunken cheeks, tear trough furrows and hollow temples. Acting to replace lost collagen in the skin, helps to restore a firm and full structure that effectively lifts sagging skin around the cheeks, chin and jawline. Expertly administered to follow the natural lines of the face, this enables the features to replenish their strong contouring.

For the Best Outcome:

The results can often be seen after the procedure and are found to last for 6 – 12 months. Your practitioner will be able to put a long-term treatment plan in place, which will enable the outcome to be maintained for as long as you desire.

Downtime:

There is no downtime with dermal fillers! Results are visible straight away, however, swelling will subside after a few hours and it will take a few days for the product to settle.

The safety of dermal fillers is supported by being given FDA approval. Dr Juliet and her team possess expert knowledge and apply this injectable treatment with safety and precision in mind. An unsatisfactory result is not something that is experienced at Dr Juliet, however if you do not achieve your expected outcome, the product can be dissolved.

Some minor discomfort may be experienced both during the procedure and for a short while afterwards. Dermal fillers can be administered following the application of a topical numbing cream (20 – 30 minutes before the treatment), however some products will contain a mild anaesthetic. A fine needle is used to minimise any discomfort, with any lasting tenderness settling within a matter of hours.

Redness, swelling and bruising are normal effects that are to be expected immediately following the treatment. These effects are usually very minor and will have subsided in around 24 hours. Small bruises that appear where the injections were administered in the skin, can be covered with concealing make-up if the patient wishes. During the consultation session, any other potential side effects will be outlined, reducing their risk by sharing your medical history.

The treated area will need to be left to settle following the treatment, being careful not touch or apply unnecessary pressure. For the first 6 hours, the area will need to be kept dry and you will need to avoid extremes of heat and cold.

The results can often be seen very quickly after the procedure and are found to last for up to 6 months. Your practitioner will be able to put a long-term treatment plan in place, which will enable the outcome to be maintained for as long as you desire.

We use dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance that is produced by the body. Hyaluronic transfers essential nutrients from the bloodstream to the skin cells, while bringing in hydration and adding volume to the skin.

Once the HA gel is injected, it supports the facial structures and tissues that may have lost elasticity or volume. It helps to bring water to the surface of the skin, keeping the skin supple and fresh-looking.

Dermal fillers can last up to 12 months but patients can have treatments when they and Dr Juliet feel it is necessary.
