ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS

What are Anti Wrinkle Injections?

When looking to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles, anti-wrinkle injections (also known as BOTOX) can produce effective results. A great solution for temporarily reducing the appearance of a variety of lines and wrinkles, including frown lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, necklines, marionette lines, nasal lines and eye wrinkles, anti-wrinkle injections can effectively smooth the skin for a youthful and rejuvenated look.

From the moment you were born, you express yourself through actions such as yawning, crying, and smiling. Over the years, the facial muscles, which are often overused, develop creases, typically between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and along the forehead. These creases can give the impression of tiredness, anger, or sadness.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections offer a safe, quick, and reliable solution for addressing fine lines and wrinkles with virtually no downtime, resulting in a more youthful and relaxed appearance. Wrinkle relaxing treatments can effectively smooth out those lines, restoring a more youthful and less stressed expression to your face. You may even find that the urge to frown diminishes.

Dynamic wrinkles are lines, creases, or folds that result from the contraction of facial muscles during repeated facial expressions. Examples of dynamic wrinkles include forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and smile lines. These wrinkles become visible during facial movements and expressions of emotion.

On the other hand, static wrinkles are lines, creases, or folds in the facial skin that are apparent when the face is at rest and not in motion. Causes of static wrinkles include sun damage, skin aging, smoking, and the long-term persistence of dynamic lines, which can become permanent.

Depending on the dosage and the age of the individual being treated, anti-wrinkle injections can be employed to prevent the development or deepening of lines or to soften existing lines. Additionally, anti-wrinkle products can be injected into the masseter muscle to slim the jawline and address issues such as excessive sweating in the underarms, hands, or feet.

Consultation:

No consultation required prior to appointment, it is included as part of your treatment. We may ask you to fill medical questionnaire and send face photos prior to your appointment.

For the Best Outcome:

The results of a treatment begin to appear between 4 and 14 days. Typically, after 3-4 months, the effects will start to diminish, and facial features will gradually return to their former state. Repeated treatments progressively weaken the targeted muscles and can result in a more prolonged duration and less frequent need for treatments. Maintenance treatments are necessary to sustain the effect over extended periods.

For optimal results, it is advisable to schedule an appointment at least 2 weeks before any special events.

Downtime:

There is no downtime with anti-wrinkle injections. After the treatment, the doctor will provide any necessary aftercare advice to maximise your treatment benefits and prevent any undesirable side effects. You can resume normal activities, drive yourself home, or return to work immediately after the treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Depending on the number of areas being treated in each session, an anti-wrinkle injection appointment can be completed in as little as 15 minutes, making it the perfect lunchtime treatment.

Anti-wrinkle injections last for three to six months depending on the client, with top up treatments available should you wish.

During the anti-wrinkle injection treatment, Dr. Juliet will utilise her specially developed technique to administer a controlled amount of Botox to the patient using a fine needle. An optional numbing cream is available if needed, but the procedure is relatively pain-free, and many of our clients choose to undergo treatment without anaesthesia.

Results are noticeable within a few days, with optimum results becoming apparent at around 2 weeks post-treatment. The treatment can last from 3 to 6 months, after which time a top-up treatment may be required.

There is no downtime with anti-wrinkle injections, although patients may be advised to avoid exercise and hot saunas 24 hours after treatment.

The best time to consider having anti-wrinkle injections is when you begin to notice that your dynamic lines (wrinkles that only appear through expression) become visible even when your face is at rest, forming static lines. However, the timing varies from person to person, depending on genetic and lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, stress, cigarette smoking, and other environmental influences. Botox works best at this stage, rather than with deeply etched lines, which are more challenging to smooth out.

The longer you wait, the more invasive the treatments for wrinkles become; for example, dermal fillers are used when anti-wrinkle injections are not sufficient.

Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to treat areas such as:

Frown lines – Forehead lines resulting from gathering of tissue between the eyebrows or fold, and caused by squinting and frowning.

Crow’s Feet – Fine lines that form around the eyes, typically caused by sun exposure and smoking.

Bunny Lines – Fine wrinkles that appear when you scrunch up your nose, such as when you smile or laugh.

Necklines – Necklines including horizontal ‘necklace lines’ and vertical ‘platysmal bands’ (Nefertiti Neck Lift) can be caused by everything from genetics and ageing to spending too much time looking down (i.e. at your phone).

Marionette Lines: Creases or folds that start at the outer corners of the mouth and run down to the outside edges of the chin. Marionette lines can be caused by various factors, including bone structure, skin type and the amount of fat and collagen in your face.

Anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to treat medical conditions such as migraines, excessive sweating and facial flushing.

Anti-wrinkle injections can help with excessive sweating by blocking the signals that the body sends to stimulate sweat glands. It is injected into the skin, and the effects last for 3-6 months.

Some people are self-conscious about the amount of tooth and gum that is revealed when they smile. Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to minimise this by relaxing the muscle above the upper lip, thereby preventing it from lifting as high.

Anti-wrinkle injections can treat horizontal ‘necklace lines’ and vertical ‘platysmal bands’ in the neck with a treatment known as the Nefertiti Neck Lift, restoring a tighter and youthful appearance of the skin on the neck.

To ensure the proper healing environment, be certain to observe the following:

– Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for 24 hours. Do not use tanning beds.
– Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
– No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment.
– No excessive alcohol consumption on the day of the treatment.
– Do not lie face down following the treatment.
– Do not use ibuprofen following the treatment for 2 weeks.

This treatment can effectively create a more youthful look by softening the lines and wrinkles that result from repeated facial movements, such as: frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds and smokers’ lines. A thorough consultation with one of our team will take a look at your concerns and, by taking into account your desired outcome, will advise on the best treatment option for you.

Many patients will describe anti-wrinkle injections as a fairly comfortable treatment. The product is administered using a very fine needle and the treatment area can be numbed using a topical anaesthetic cream, prior to the procedure. Any discomfort is short lived and only usually lasts for the duration of the actual treatment.

Minor side effects are commonly experienced with anti-wrinkle injections. Some redness, swelling, itching and bruising can appear at the treatment site, which has usually subsided within 12 – 24 hours. This will be explained to you during the pre-treatment consultation, along with any other potential side effects that can occur. Dr. Juliet and her team are always available to answer any questions about any of the treatments we have available.

Anti-wrinkle injections boast having very little downtime attached and before you leave the clinic your practitioner will ensure you have been given any relevant aftercare instructions. You will need to avoid rubbing / touching the treated area (including applying make-up) for up to 4 hours, post procedure. For up to 24 hours you should avoid strenuous activity and exposing the skin to extremes of heat or cold should also be avoided for up to 1 week.

Exercise should be avoided for 4 hours after the treatment, and the area should not be massaged for 24 hrs.

It is safe to fly after the treatment, although we generally recommend that you wait 48hrs before flying long haul.

You are advised to attend for a review 2-3 weeks after your first treatment, follow ups are generally not required for subsequent treatments.
